Oxford University try out the Powerbreather

We had an interesting morning with OUSC training at Oxford’s Iffley Road pool on Saturday – they were all excellent swimmers of course, but trying Powerbreathers for the first time.

Oxford Uni had recently won the Blues match v. Cambridge, so were all on good form, but with exams fast approaching it was good to see so many turn out for training – to test the new device and boost performance.

While everyone seemed happy with Easy Speed Vents (no one upgraded to Medium or Power at this stage), some had difficulty at first in breathing correctly for tumble turns. We probably went into race mode too soon, but in the end everyone mastered the technique to very good effect, completing a variety of sets and exercises required by the coach.

We look forward to hearing from people, after exams, and hope to arrange a Powerbreather session with the OU triathlon squad in Queenford lake, before long too.
